Load organising or load organizing (US) is about taking a group of skydivers, understanding their individual skills and planning skydives for them that are:
- Safe
- Likely to work
- Challenge the different skill levels in the group
- Fun and make everyone smile and want to do more!
After each jump a de-brief is carried out by the load organiser where points for improvement are highlighted. Subsequent skydives are then 'ideally' designed to work on those improvement points.
In a nutshell it is about developing the in-air skills and awareness that enable formations to grow in size without compromising safety. |
For a dropzone, load organising provides a service for local jumpers. Regular organising on a dropzone also enables visiting jumpers to to be quickly integrated into the community, making them feel welcome and getting them in the air with local jumpers.
It also provides:
- A progression opportunity beyond FS1
- An alternative to team/competition jumping (not everyone has the time or money to pursue teams).
- An opportunity to develop a wider skill set including unlinked exits, distance approach, docking, canopy & in-air awareness, tracking etc.
|
Load organisers need to work closely with the dropzone to ensure the service is well integrated, works smoothly and maintains safety.
Responsibilities include:
- Putting the interests of the group as a whole first.
- Recognition and management of different experience levels
- Management of group size based on skill levels
- Confident briefing of planned skydives
|
- Communication with office, camera team, manifest and pilots where appropriate
- In-air evaluation and awareness
- In air management of the skydive
- Clear and concise video debriefing
- Responsibility for overseeing briefing and debriefing safety issues
- Use of 1:1 briefing and debriefing to build confidence, develop skills and manage issues
- Confidence to restructure groups as required
