Types of load organising

Types of organsing
"Load organising can be managed in a variety of ways depending on objectives."
Ad-hoc Graded

This 'informal' type of load organising happens at all dropzones to some extent. Such loads are organised irregularly, often to celebrate jump number milestones, or to create fun sunset loads. Success varies depending on the jump itself, who is organising, who is participating and how much attention is paid to/or known about the skill levels involved.

Some dropzones use this approach to begin to split skydivers into groups based on their flying skills and previous experience. This approach, also used at most mainstream events and boogies, is good for giving skydivers a progression path and generally produces the most predictable results in terms of skydive quality! Graded organising works best at events or on club dropzones where skydivers make use of the load organising service on a regular basis over a period of time.
Walk-up Invitational

This method is often used by dropzones on a casual basis. One or more load organisers are based on the dropzone to deal with whatever demand there is for the service on a day to day basis. Jumps are usually fun focused and of mixed experience levels. This method is good for integrating new jumpers arriving on a dropzone. It works best on dropzones where organised group participants change on a daily or weekly basis.

Invitational organising is where experienced skydivers are invited to attend specific events based on previous demonstration of their skills, often backed up by strong skydiving references. This method is best employed when running events dedicated to a specific goal. e.g. Record setting events like POPs, World Team, Jump for the Cause etc. It is also used for challenge type events e.g. Airspeed Challenge, Arizona Challenge, Perris Performance Plus. Invitational organising is essential to guarantee a high quality of skydive and provides something for more experienced skydivers to aspire to.
