Selecting events

Progress faster by choosing the right events and opportunities to develop your skill level and achieve your ambitions.

Aspiring skydiver (Coming soon)
"Progressing in big ways is as much about choosing the right progression
opportunities as it is about gaining the skills themselves".

An intermediate jumper who constantly pushes himself or herself to jump in a high experience group because he or she is great at one exit slot (or job in the formation), will rarely get the opportunity to practice all the other slots and skills to become an all round big way jumper - they need to do this to become the type of jumper that an organiser would be happy to put in any slot (and hence reference for bigger and better events).

A beginner should think hard before pushing themselves too much too soon, it's not just pride at stake; jumping with more people adds additional risks and requires better awareness in the air and under canopy. Taking your time before dealing with these extra variables is sensible. It also frees you up from the pressure of more experienced environments and allows you valuable time to concentrate on the basic skills themselves.

"So how do you know what events are right for you or what the next steps for progression are?"

First of all if you aren't sure what level you are already, take a look at our self assessment questionnaire. Sharing your answers with the Skydive Choreography team isn't mandatory, but if you want us to be able to support you better we recommend it. Once you've completed it take a look at our event calendar to see which events might suit you!

Finally, take a look at the downloads above for some specific advice.
