Brian's story
"Skydiving is what I do outside of work! I first jumped at
Netheravon – but oddly hadn't jumped there again until
2007 with Skydive Choreography!
I took a gap year between careers and traveled worldwide
skydiving, packing, doing boogies, larking about but learning
and having fun.
When I returned, I continued boogie/walk up skydiving
mostly at Langar, until the arrival of 8 way and Box of Frogs.
Joining a team definitely changed things; hard work, more
commitment, new goals! But it was the beginning of better
things because it meant working closely with great people
including Billy Payn and Dave Lewis, VNE and Andy Pook.
I was very fortunate to get seven medals during five years
of 8 way nationals. Two of these medals were for "flying"
as opposed to filming. |
I consider myself a very fortunate person in the skydiving
world. I don't get to events abroad much (logistically /
financially), but appear to have found a home filming
amazing UK events since the 8 way team came to an end.
Some time ago I had the great fortune to meet camera
flyer Bruno Brokken in Spain and he changed the way I
looked at skydiving. He is still the best in my opinion.
We really are spoilt in the UK! We are fortunate to have
fantastic innovators in UK skydiving including Milko, who
has brought masses of respect to UK organising, and
Caroline, who is definitely an emerging multi event
organiser in the UK . Add to that the amazing dropzones /
aircraft / people. It is all of this that, despite the weather,
allows us to pull amazing events out the bag time and time again!" |
